Governance
The University of the Highlands and Islands is a company limited by guarantee and is regulated in accordance with its articles of association.
Court
Court is the university's governing body. The court has overall responsibility for the strategic direction and governance of the university. At an operational level, the court delegates many of its functions to the partnership council, academic council and committees.
Academic council
Academic council is the university's highest academic authority for higher education. It delegates some of its detailed responsibilities to a number of committees.
Foundation
Foundation provides a connection between the university and its communities and acts as a custodian of the mission.

There are a number of policies and regulations that affect staff, students and the wider community.
