Non-accessible content

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

We are aware that some 3rd party content on our site does not conform to WCAG AA. Elements such as :

  • Youtube embeds

The range of WCAG issues is extensive and ever changing. Where we use widgets, they are typically for ancillary information and the information is available natively in the respective platforms which are linked from our website footer and/or the embeds.

We support our web content with a large number of PDFs. We are aware of a number of issues with these and are systematically working through our repository to resolve them. The most common issues are :

  • WCAG 1.1.1, non-text content, missing ALT text
  • WCAG 2.4.2, page titled, missing title tag
  • WCAG 3.3.2, labels or instructions, missing form control labels
  • WCAG 3.1.1, language of page, no natural language set (all our PDFs are written in English or Gàidhlig)
