Biography
Pamela McKay is a lecturer in adult nursing at the University of the Highlands and Islands. Pamela is a qualified nurse with over 25 years clinical experience, working predominately in the surgical specialities. She has experience of teaching on a variety of academic nursing subjects to undergraduate students and, supervises MSc students.
Pamela has 12 years’ experience as a Musculoskeletal Audit Nurse. A variety of audits were undertaken as part of the national Strategy set out by the Scottish Orthopaedic Service Development Group. In addition, she has worked as a Practice Education Facilitator developing, and supporting the role of the nursing assistant.
Pamela has an interest in research having undertaken an MSc and then being afforded the opportunity of a Studentship at the University of the West of Scotland to undertake PhD research.
Research
Pamela’s main areas of research interest are nurse education, pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and Fibromyalgia. She has experience in all aspects of the research process including study design, data collection, data analysis and report writing. Pamela has experience and skills in the use of a variety of research methodologies, utilising analysis of both quantitative and qualitative methods.
