Biography
Sam McPhail has worked at UHI since June 2023.
Sam qualified as an RGN in 1989 in Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock. For several years Sam was employed by Greater Glasgow and Clyde and worked at the Southern General, the Victoria Hospital and latterly the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Sam also spent three years working in the hospice setting at the Marie Curie in Huntershill Hospital in the grounds of Stobhill.
Work experience includes medical receiving and HDU, respiratory and endocrinology and haematology. For the last ten years, Sam was employed as a clinical nurse specialist with the long-term ventilation team based at the Queen Elizabeth. The team covers most of Scotland including other hospitals and their ITU patients, specialising in the ventilation of patients with neuromuscular conditions.
